Genealogy has become a hobby for me over the last 10 years. For me, it's like a puzzle, I love fitting the pieces together. But over the years, I've researched a lot that does not pertain to our family lines. Some for extended family, some for close friends, and some because I was trying to rule out lines to figure out where our line went exactly. I do not want these notes on my Heather's Genealogy Notes blog - because they are not our lines. But I do like to share all of my research, in case it benefits others. That is what this blog is for - research I have done that does not apply to our own family lines, but may be helpful for someone else.

Sometime between 1880 & 1900 Lycurgus and his wife and daughter moved to PA.  In 1910 his mom and sister are also in Pa - they may have arrived at the same time?  Lycurgus brother Clayton married Harriet Hagerman, from Montour County PA, which is not close at all to the Philadelphia area that Lycurgus settled in.  Lycurgus is on staff as a math teacher in 1904, it is possible he moved here for a job?

I found a church record for Avis in March of 1894, listed as a confirmed member of the Cathedral of the Nativity church in Bethlehem Pa, with a note that she has "moved to Philadelphia".  So I assume all of them moved to Philadelphia in 1894.

In 1890 Lycurgus & Avis are listed on the rolls of the Central United Methodist Church.  They were received "by letter".  There is a note beside Avis that she was dismissed (possibly both of them, but it is on the line across from her) by letter on 10/14/1911  A year later, in 1912, Avis shows up on the rolls again - but without Lycurgus?  Above them are listed an Edwin & a Harriet Ford.  I have not yet tracked down Lycurgus' brother Tuilleres E.  Ford, this could be him & his wife?

In 1904, Lycurgus is on the Faculty of the Northeast Manual Training School, as a math teacher

In 1910 Lycurgus is listed as widowed - but the death record for his wife Avis shows her dying in 1950, in San Diego California? Mabel died in 1912, while in school at West Chester Pa.  She is not listed here with her father in 1910, nor is Avis - but perhaps Avis is nearby since we know Mabel went to school here? (look harder for another census)  In 1870 there is an SL Ford between Clayton & Lycurgus.  It's possible there is a Lewis Ford that is an older brother, and that the Lewis in the 1910 census is not Lycurgus at all.

In Oct 1912 (Mabel died in January of 1912) I find Avis as a member of the Central United Methodist Church in Philadelphia.  Mabel was listed as a member in 1904.  Lycurgus does not appear, but a Milton Ford is also on the rolls.  There is a note earlier on another page, saying she was dismissed by letter in October of 1911.

I have copies of letters between Lycurgus' brother Clayton & his fiance Harriet Hagerman, that mention his parents moving West - it is possible Lycurgus's parents settled in California & Avis eventually joined them there?
