Genealogy has become a hobby for me over the last 10 years. For me, it's like a puzzle, I love fitting the pieces together. But over the years, I've researched a lot that does not pertain to our family lines. Some for extended family, some for close friends, and some because I was trying to rule out lines to figure out where our line went exactly. I do not want these notes on my Heather's Genealogy Notes blog - because they are not our lines. But I do like to share all of my research, in case it benefits others. That is what this blog is for - research I have done that does not apply to our own family lines, but may be helpful for someone else.

During the years when the wife and daughter of George Lewis remained in New York, he hired Priscilla Forward of Salisbury Maryland as his housekeeper.  She became his paramour and in 1808 their son William Lewis was born. Later Priscilla became the wife of Abraham Woolever who came from New Jersey to Mount Lewis, and became a foreman in the glass works.  The eldest of their three children, Edwin Woolever, was born at Mount lewis Oct 9 1818.  Abraham Woolever moved with his family to Muncy, then subsequently to Gamble Township (opposite the mouth of Little Bear Creek, property later owned by Katherine Pentz), where he engaged in farming and lumbering.

I do not know why their children are not listed here.  William and Mary are the last two entries on the page, and the next page starts with a new family.  The Woolevers are found on the same page as William & Mary, as they are in other years.  I suspect this was a census error, that the children were just left off, not that the children were elsewhere.

After the death of her husband, Johanah (Sebring) Casterline made her home with her daughter and son in law, Mr & Mrs William Lewis, who lived at Butternut Grove.  This property was later owned by Bertram Murphy.
Johannah Casterline was noted for her ability to nurse the sick and to lend a helping hand where needed.  (Information from Abram Jacoby & Lynn Hill, who was a great grandson of Priscila (Forward) Woolever.)

1875 - Gamble Township is created
Gamble Township was formed in 1875 from parts of adjacent Lewis and Cascade Townships.

Up until now, William is found in Cascade Township - that is because Gamble township had not yet been created.  William did not move, the township lines did.
